 Neighborhood letter

Dear Friends,

As many of you know we have a wonderful tradition of hosting the Annual Daffodil Ball here at River Creek. It has not only become a successful event benefiting Capital Hospice but almost a rite of spring many of us look forward to attending. As a community we have raised almost a million dollars in three years while enjoying fabulous evenings of dancing and dining!

The first ball was born out of a dream, by Dr. Jack & Janet Fox, to build an inpatient facility here in Loudoun County for patients unable to receive the care they need in their private homes. We are thrilled that the hard work of the first three galas has helped to make this a reality. Initial plans are already underway and our next ball will host the public unveiling of the design and layout of the new facility.

This inpatient facility will help the Leesburg Office of Capital Hospice provide care to over 200 patients per day in our community. It is an extraordinary endeavor undertaken by a dedicated team of professionals consisting of over 70 employees including nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, bereavement coordinators, physicians, ministers, administrative personnel and 80 patient care volunteers. The hospice philosophy is to assist patients and families in living life while dealing with a serious illness where there’s no hope of a cure. The goal is to assist them in living life to the fullest, free as possible from emotional and physical pain, while surrounded by loved ones in a familiar setting. This care is available for everyone regardless of their ability to pay.  I could not be more proud of the indispensable services they provide.

Our Fourth Annual Daffodil Ball, on March 29th will be another fabulous evening of fine food, dancing and auctions. I hope you will consider joining us by sponsoring this wonderful event.

Fondly,

Margaret D. Galles
